How Scalp Micropigmentation Works
Dots of Pigment Resemble Real Hair
Scalp micropigmentation (also known as SMP) involves delicately adding a dot pigmentation to the inside of the top layer of your skin to mimic a hair follicle. The dots are built up 1 by 1 to form a pattern that accurately resembles shaved hair. The dots can be graded for an ultra realistic effect giving the look of real hair. This way a new hairline can be created giving you a younger look.
The Equipment
The SMP device deposits pigment into the scalp using a needle. Its similar to tattoo machine but they are specifically designed for SMP procedures. We use a stable yet lightweight pen that has multiple micro needle thickness’s and length and speed so we can accurately control amount pigment dot size and depth.
Micro Needles
Specifically designed for SMP. The needles used are very small (usually between 0.25mm and 0.5mm in diameter) this helps to minimise discomfort. There are different configurations – flat, round and angled, and in different gauges. The size and shape of the needles used can affect the result of the SMP. For example, round needles can create a more natural-looking hair follicle appearance and are used for filling in larger areas. Sloped needles create a softer, more natural looking hairline. Flat needles can create a more defined and sharper appearance.
The Pigments
The pigments used are all pure mineral compounds mixed with glycerine. All of the compounds used by Scalp Provoco are safety regulated and hypo-allergenic. They are specially designed for use on the scalp. They are designed to last for years without fading or changing colour, ensuring long-lasting results.

Every client’s journey starts with a full consultation, exploring what the procedure can do for you and making sure your expectations can be achieved before the procedure begins. We make sure that each treatment is tailor made & fits with your style and life.
Scalp micropigmentation does require periodical maintenance to ensure the freshness of the look, but you can expect the enhancement to last anything up to 3-5 years before a touch-up treatment is required to refresh the look.
