Can you repair bad SMP?

At Scalp Provoco, we pride ourselves on offering world class, highly professional, expert and reliable solutions to people who are facing confidence-sapping hair loss and are looking for a long-term solution that works.

But every sector is cursed with businesses that fail to live up to the high standards of everyone around them – and when that happens with scalp micropigmentation (SMP), we’re often approached by people who need us to fix the bad work they’ve experienced.

Luckily, we’ve got the skill and the experience to help the those who find their way to us and whilst we’d always hope that people get the results they want, even if it’s not from us, we’re always happy to try to remedy work that hasn’t been up to a high enough standard.

What are common problems that result from SMP that’s gone wrong?

Scalp micropigmentation is a highly specialised semi-permanent tattooing procedure that should be carried out by a well-qualified, professional and experienced artist.

When SMP is performed badly, it can result in a number of common problems:

  • Irregular or inconsistent micropigmentation deposits that don’t blend properly with real hair
  • Hairlines that seem to be obviously unnatural, as though they have been drawn on
  • Unexpected colouring (usually a visible hint of blue)
  • Excessive and unexpected fading
  • A loss of definition and regularity in the micropigment dots

Can bad scalp micropigmentation be reversed?

Receiving a poor standard of care is always distressing, but luckily, we have a lot of experience and training to ensure we can mitigate the impact of a bad scalp micropigmentation experience and still give you the best chance of getting the result you wanted.

Occasionally, repairing a bad micropigmentation procedure might require the use of specialist laser equipment, which effectively removes the original work and allows us to treat the area properly.

If you’re unhappy with the SMP treatment you’ve received, we strongly recommend you book a free consultation so we can understand your specific case and give you the best possible personalised advice on the best course of action for you to take.
